ChatGPT Atlas is retired: what to move to

OpenAI has retired ChatGPT Atlas: it no longer gets updates, and its help article gives no date for when it stops working. Bookmarks, tabs and history do not move by themselves. Here is how to move what you can, what OpenAI advises, and how other AI browsers and Minda Super Intelligence compare on what Atlas did.

What happened to ChatGPT Atlas?

OpenAI has retired it: no more updates, and no date for when it stops working.

  • Retired: OpenAI says ChatGPT Atlas has been retired and no longer receives updates. Source

  • No end date: neither the retirement article nor the launch post says when Atlas stops working, and the launch post now says Atlas has been deprecated. Sources 1 2

  • A Mac browser: Atlas launched on macOS, and versions for Windows, iOS and Android were announced as coming soon. Source

What does OpenAI recommend?

A supported browser, without naming one; its import steps are written for Chrome.

  • Move to a supported browser: OpenAI asks workspace admins to help members move to an approved, supported browser, and names none. Source

  • Steps written for Chrome: the help article’s import steps are for Chrome. Source

  • Chats stay in ChatGPT: your ChatGPT conversations go on there, subject to your plan, workspace settings and account access. Source

  • Atlas-only extras end: the Atlas-only rate-limit promotion did not move to other ChatGPT experiences, and the article does not say agent mode or browser memories go on elsewhere. Source

How do you move your data out of Atlas?

Only what you exported earlier moves; the rest stays behind or starts again, by OpenAI’s own account.

What will you miss from Atlas?

Each one wins somewhere. These are the differences that decide which one fits the work, each from its maker’s own page.

Where Atlas was ahead

  • Browser memories brought back what you had seen on sites you visited, when you needed it. Source

  • ChatGPT acted for you right in your own browser, where you were already signed in. Source

  • A switch in the address bar set which sites ChatGPT could see, even with memories on. Source

Where does Minda fit for someone leaving Atlas?

Minda Super Intelligence is a desktop AI agent app with its own built-in browser. It is not out yet; when it is, its SI agent works in your own signed-in accounts and asks before it pays.

  • Not on a Mac yet: Minda Super Intelligence for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) is coming soon; macOS and Linux builds are not published yet.

  • An agent that asks before it pays: the SI agent clicks, types and fills in forms on its own, and a press that pays waits for your OK.

  • Every account kept apart: each workspace has its own sign-ins, so one agent works in several accounts of one site at once.

  • Your choice of model: Minda SI credits, your own key, or a model on your own computer.

  • Moving in: bookmarks, history, passwords, sign-ins, extensions and open tabs come over from Chrome, Edge, Firefox and more, and a ChatGPT export becomes chats in History.

How this page was made

  • Minda’s column comes from Minda’s own product facts, the same ones the rest of this site uses.
  • Every other product’s answer links to the page of its maker it was read from. The lists below give each page and the day it was read.
  • No means its maker says it does not, or not yet. Not listed means the maker’s pages that were read do not mention it; it is never shown as No.
  • Not checked yet means no page of its maker answered it when this page was checked: none was read for it, or its answer could not be read. It is left out of every count.
  • Each answer is written in our own words from the maker’s page. The page compares what each product does, not how well: one row can hide a big difference in depth.
  • No prices: plans change often, and each maker’s own pricing page is the place to check them.
