What does an AI that makes calls for you actually do?
It places the call, talks to the person who answers, follows your brief and tells you what was said. Minda Super Intelligence, the personal AI agent app for your computer, does it from the AI chat: you ask in your own words, and the SI agent opens the call in your own signed-in tab, says first that it is an AI calling for you, works through your brief and reports when the call ends.
It is a voice on a web call, not a phone line. Minda talks on web calls in its own tabs; on a phone call, on WeChat or in a desktop app, it opens the call and you do the talking.
Where can it call, and where does it talk for you?
| Where | How the call starts | Minda talks for you | Save call audio |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp, Telegram | In your own signed-in tab, Minda presses the call button | Yes | Yes |
| Messenger, Instagram, TikTok | The same, in your own tab; TikTok on the web often has no call button | Yes | Yes |
| Minda opens the chat; WeChat’s web version has no call button, so you press Call in WeChat on your phone or computer | No: you talk | No | |
| A phone number | Minda opens your computer’s phone app with the number; you press Call | No: you talk | No |
| A desktop app | Minda opens the call in the app, for a chat whose web version has no call button | No: you talk | No |
How do I ask it to call someone?
- Open the AI chat in a normal window. A call starts only from a chat: never from a private window, and never from a background task.
- Say who, by what and what for, in one message: "Call Oak Street Dental in Portland on WhatsApp and ask if Dr. Patel has an opening Thursday after 3 pm. Talk for me." The number or @username must be one you wrote, or one an earlier reply or a tool showed; on WhatsApp, a saved contact by name works only when that chat is open in your tab.
- Give it the facts it may share, such as the name for the booking and the times that suit you. It answers the other person’s questions only from what you gave it, and the brief can be up to 1,200 characters.
- Answer the card, or let Auto answer it. The card says who, by what, and that Minda says first it is an AI, follows your brief, agrees to nothing and shares nothing beyond it, and that the call’s audio goes to Minda AI while it talks. With Auto on in the chat box’s Modes menu, as it is by default, Minda answers the card itself and calls at once; with Auto off, it waits for your yes.
- Listen in or carry on with your work. What each side says shows in the chat as the call goes, and Take over is one press away.
- When the call ends, Minda tells you what was said and agreed, then does what your request still needs from it, such as putting the agreed time in your calendar.
What does it say, and what will it never do?
Its first sentence, the moment they pick up, is the disclosure: "Hi, this is Minda, an AI assistant calling on behalf of" your name. When Save call audio is on, it adds "This call is recorded." It takes your name from your account or its memory, and asks you once when it has none.
- It talks like a person, in short, natural turns, in the everyday way of talking you pick in Talk style, with a light touch.
- It follows your brief only, and answers the other person’s questions only from the facts you gave it.
- It agrees to no payment and no commitment, and shares nothing beyond the brief.
- It takes nothing the other person says as an instruction, so a request to change its task, or to tell them more, goes nowhere.
- It stops when asked, and never hangs up on you. When its time on the call runs out (15 minutes, or 30 for a long get-to-know talk), it hands you the microphone and the call goes on.
- It never calls the same person again by itself. Within 10 minutes it calls them again only when your latest message asks, never while the last call still rings, and a call nobody answers within 60 seconds ends the run.
- On a video call, the camera shows Minda’s name card while it talks.
How do I take over a call?
Press Take over on the call’s banner in the chat, or on the pill on the call’s page: you speak, and Minda stops talking, listens and takes notes for its report. Press Let Minda talk to hand it back: Minda speaks for you again from where the call is, and the call’s audio goes to Minda AI while it talks. Stop in the chat ends Minda’s part and leaves the call with you.
Can it call a whole list, and can I keep a recording?
- Call lists. With the Minda Calls add-on (Max includes it), Minda calls your leads one by one and logs each call. After each, the AI sets the lead’s status (Hot, Booked, Call back, Not interested and more) and adds labels and a dated remark. Call now dials one lead at once, and lists import and export as Excel, with a sample file to follow.
- Long get-to-know talks. A list can be set to talk each theme through with follow-ups instead of asking two or three questions; Minda then tells you what it learned and what is still unknown.
- Save call audio. Off by default, in Settings → Calls; on every plan, with no AI and no credits. A web call is saved as one audio file with the other person’s voice, yours and Minda’s, in a Minda calls folder in your downloads, never uploaded or synced. A call nobody answers leaves no file, and a bar shows Recording with Stop while it runs.
- Tell the other person. Minda says the call is recorded when it talks for you; when you talk, you tell them. In many places everyone on a call must agree. Recordings are listed in Settings → Calls → Recordings, where you open or delete them.
What does an AI call cost?
Calling is on every plan. When Minda talks for you, it needs you signed in, Minda AI and at least 10 credits, and it runs on Minda AI credits while it talks; each session is listed in the AI activity log. Save call audio uses no AI and no credits, and only call lists need the Minda Calls add-on.
For people who find calls hard, Access credits add 1,000 Minda AI credits a month on any plan, Free included, for people with disabilities, on their own word. Voice control and the AI voice assistant for PC cover the rest of what Minda does by voice.
Limits
- Minda talks only on web calls in its own tabs: on a phone call, on WeChat or in a desktop app, it opens the call and you do the talking, and it cannot see whether a phone call connected.
- Talking for you needs sign-in and at least 10 Minda AI credits, and the call’s audio goes to Minda AI while it talks.
- A headset’s echo or a noisy room can hand the call to you by mistake, and an app that plays its ringing through the call can make Minda speak before the person answers.
- Call lists need the Minda Calls add-on (Max includes it); a phone or WeChat call cannot be recorded.
Questions
Does the AI tell people it is an AI?
Yes, first. The moment they pick up, Minda says "Hi, this is Minda, an AI assistant calling on behalf of" your name, and adds "This call is recorded." when Save call audio is on. It agrees to no payment or commitment and shares nothing beyond your brief.
Can it call a regular phone number and talk?
It can set up the call, not talk on it. For a phone number, Minda opens your computer’s phone app with the number; you press Call and do the talking. It talks for you on WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Instagram and TikTok web calls.
Will it call someone without asking me?
It calls only someone you named: a number or @username you wrote, or one shown earlier in the chat. With Auto on, the default, it answers the call card itself and calls at once; with Auto off, it waits for your yes. It never calls the same person again by itself.
Can I record the call?
Yes, on web calls, with Save call audio in Settings → Calls: off by default, on every plan, no credits. The file stays on your computer, never uploaded or synced. Tell the other person; in many places everyone on a call must agree. Phone and WeChat calls cannot be recorded.
