Switch from Chrome to Minda: one import, and what stays behind

To switch from Chrome to Minda Super Intelligence, run the one-click import: bookmarks, history, passwords, sign-ins, extensions and open tabs come over, on every plan. Chrome 127 and later locks most of its passwords, so those stay behind, and at most the 10,000 most recent history pages come over. Your ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini chats and memory can follow.

What comes over from Chrome, and what stays behind?

Six kinds of data come over in one import: bookmarks, history, passwords, sign-ins, extensions and open tabs, from Chrome, Edge, Firefox and more, on every plan. Minda Super Intelligence is the personal AI agent app for your computer with a built-in browser, so the move puts your Chrome data into that browser, and the SI agent then works in the accounts you brought with you.

Three things stay behind, and it is better to know before you start. Chrome 127 and later and current Edge lock most of their passwords to themselves, so only some come over; Firefox passwords are not read at all, but a CSV export from Firefox imports. At most the 10,000 most recent history pages come over. And extension support is not full Chrome parity: many Chrome extensions work, not every one.

How do I run the import?

  1. On the first run, the Bring your stuff step offers the import; later, open Settings → Import & export → Import from another browser.
  2. Pick the browser and the profile. Minda detects the browsers on the computer and proposes the profiles used in the last 30 days.
  3. Tick what to bring: bookmarks, history, passwords, sign-ins, extensions, open tabs. Untick what you do not want.
  4. Start. The kinds import one after another with a progress line; Stop ends it, and Try again repeats only the kinds that need it.
  5. Check the result: your bookmarks in place, your sites still signed in, your tabs open. Keep Chrome installed until you are sure; the import copies, and nothing is removed from Chrome.

How do I bring what ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini know about me?

Bring your AI moves the memory, not only the chats: what ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any AI knows about you and how you like answers, so Minda starts with the same picture of you. It works through a prompt and an answer, so no account is connected and no password is shared, and the answer is read on your computer.

  1. Open Settings → Memory → Bring from another AI (on the first run: Bring your stuff → From ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini).
  2. Copy the prompt Minda shows and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini; the Open buttons take you there in a new tab.
  3. Copy the answer it gives and paste it into the box in Minda. It is read on your computer and split into facts.
  4. Tick the facts worth keeping and leave the rest: each fact is kept only if you tick it. Custom instructions have a tick of their own.

Can I bring my ChatGPT and Claude chats too?

Yes, on every plan. A ChatGPT or Claude export (its conversations.json or the whole ZIP) and Gemini’s Google Takeout My Activity file (JSON) become chats in History, where you search them beside your Minda chats, your notes and your saved pages. Open Settings → Memory → Learn from → Import chats and pick the file; a toast says how many were added, how many were already there and what still waits.

Two limits hold. Up to 2,000 new chats come over per import, so a long history takes more than one. And imported chats are kept on the computer they were imported on and never synced, with attachments named but not imported; Remove imported chats takes them out again in one press.

What happens to my extensions and passwords after the move?

Chrome extensions install in Minda, and the ones you ticked are there after the import. Support is not full Chrome parity, so an extension that reaches deep into Chrome’s own windows or settings may not work; the sensible move is to test the two or three you rely on in the first hour, with Chrome still installed.

Passwords live in the password manager, kept in the operating system’s keystore, and the SI agent never needs them: it works in the browser you are already signed in to, and Minda shares no passwords. For a copy you own, make a .minda backup: it is encrypted with a password of your own (scrypt and AES-256-GCM) and restores into another Minda.

Does my stuff follow me to another computer and my phone?

With sync on, bookmarks, history, passwords, notes, skills, highlights and AI chats follow you to every computer, and to your phone through the account page. Each item is sealed on your computer with AES-256-GCM before it leaves. By default Minda’s server holds the key wrapped with its own secret, so the server can read what syncs; set your own passphrase of at least 10 characters (scrypt) and it cannot, which is end-to-end.

Never synced: open tabs, cookies, API keys, extensions and scheduled tasks. A tab can be sent from one computer to another, and two-step sign-in with an authenticator app, or one of 10 one-time recovery codes, protects the account on every plan.

What does it cost, and when can I download it?

Nothing to start. The Free plan has every function, the SI agent on pages included, with 100 Minda AI credits a month and 30 free everyday replies a day, and your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Gemini key or Ollama on your computer costs no credits at all. Pro is $25 a month or $240 a year, with 2,000 credits and a 7-day trial; the pricing page has the whole table.

Downloads for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) are coming soon: join the list on the pricing page and you hear first. In the meantime, Minda SI for Chrome brings the AI chat, rules and your Minda account into the Chrome you already use, on the same account, so the day the app arrives you sign in and carry on.

Limits

  • Chrome 127 and later and current Edge lock most passwords to themselves, so those stay behind; Firefox passwords are not read, but a CSV export from Firefox imports.
  • At most the 10,000 most recent history pages come over.
  • Imported AI chats stay on the computer they were imported on and never sync, up to 2,000 new chats per import; attachments are named, not imported.
  • Many Chrome extensions work, not every one: extension support is not full Chrome parity.

Questions

Do my Chrome passwords come over?

Some do. Chrome 127 and later and current Edge lock most of their passwords to themselves, so Minda reads only what they leave open; your sign-ins, the sites you are logged in to, come over in full. Firefox passwords are not read, but a CSV export from Firefox imports.

Can I import my ChatGPT history?

Yes. A ChatGPT or Claude export (conversations.json or the ZIP) and Gemini’s Google Takeout My Activity file become chats in History, up to 2,000 new chats per import, kept on the computer they were imported on. What those AIs know about you comes over separately, through a prompt you copy and an answer you paste.

Will my Chrome extensions work in Minda?

Many do, not every one: extension support is not full Chrome parity. The extensions you ticked are installed after the import; test the few you rely on first, and keep Chrome installed until you are sure.

Is switching free?

Yes. The import, the password manager, encrypted backups and sync are on every plan, and the Free plan has every function with 100 Minda AI credits a month. Downloads for Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) are coming soon; Minda SI for Chrome works on the same account in the meantime.

Does the import remove anything from Chrome?

No. It copies what you tick, and Chrome keeps everything it had, so you can use both while you settle in. Come back to Settings → Import & export for a kind you skipped; Stop and Try again act only on the kinds that need it.
